Qualifications

Karl McCullough, Has been a qualified coach for over 3 years, he currently hols 2nd dan in Zen judo and 1st dan in direct self defence, he also has an award in coaching studies recognised and delivered by the sports council of northern Ireland, he also holds other necessary training including child protection and first aid and is covered by instructors insurance to the value of 5 million pounds, Karl took over Belfast Kyushindo in December 2006 after the departure of Ray Pulman ,Ray held the rank of renshi (4th Dan) and had notable dan grades in judo, hapkido, and ju-jitsu he has over 30 years of experience in martial arts he also made up his own system which included personal safety, rape prevention and anti-bullying. This self-defence system because of its no-nonsense approach was called Direct Self Defence'.

Belfast Kyushindo has adopted, and slightly adapted, the syllabus of the British Zen Judo Family Association and is a member of that organisation. In addition we are affiliated to the Molum Combat Arts Association of Indiana, USA. Renshi Pulman has been honoured as a Yap Suk Dai Ji of Si Tai Gung Timothy White 8th Dan and enrolled into the Molum Honour Society. He has also been honoured by Master Bill Dixon having been enrolled into the T'Ang Shou Society of Traditional Martial Artists..
